The SRBs and the SSMEs provide the Orbiter with the power it needs to leave the EarthÕs atmosphere. Once itÕs in orbit, the Orbiter must rely on its Orbital Manoeuvring System (OMS) and Reaction Control System (RCS) to move it from place to place.
